India’s Jindal Steel to build 2640MW plant in Mozambique

Mozambique granted Jindal Steel & Power approval to build a 2640MW coal-fired power plant in the country’s Tete province, according to the energy ministry.

The US$3bn plant is expected to start operation in 2015 and its output will be sold both within Mozambique as well as the southern African region.

Tete province has some of the world’s largest untapped coal reserves.
