Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm commissioned
Germany’s first offshore wind farm, Alpha Ventus, has been formally commissioned. Located 45km off the coast of Borkum island in the North Sea, the wind park was constructed by a consortium of EWE, E.ON and Vattenfall Europe.

Construction has started on the 1224km Nord Stream natural gas pipeline, which will connect Russian natural gas reserves to Europe. General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) plans to invest EUR340m (US$453m) in developing and expanding wind turbine operations in the UK and three other European countries.
